EPNS and Alpaca forks and spoons are made from a base alloy (copper, nickel, zinc) coated with a very thin silver-plated layer. They resemble silver-plated tableware, but their recycling value is lower because of the minimal thickness of the silver deposit.

Technical notes

• EPNS: nickel silver (copper + nickel + zinc) with a light silver-plated coating.
• Silver-plated Alpaca: alloy similar to nickel silver, coated with a very thin silver layer.
• Silver content: extremely low, limited to a few microns on the surface.
• Accepted types: forks, spoons, soup spoons, dessert spoons.
