Purchase Zamak Cutlery - Price per kilo
Zamak cutlery is often mistaken for silver-plated items, but it contains no silver whatsoever. Zamak is a non-precious alloy mainly composed of zinc, with small amounts of aluminium, magnesium and occasionally copper.
Although it imitates the look of silver-plated cutlery, several features make it easy to identify:
- No silver coating: no silver layer of any kind.
- Zinc core: the interior is made entirely of zinc, the defining element of Zamak.
- Different colour: duller, greyer appearance than real silver-plated metal.
- Softer moulded shapes: Zamak is cast, often leading to less defined details.
- Variable weight: often lighter than nickel silver, sometimes heavier than stainless steel depending on thickness.
Zamak cutlery has no silver value and is only purchased for its zinc content as part of non-ferrous metal recycling.
♻️ At Metalcash, we accept Zamak cutlery for recycling, but its buyback price corresponds to zinc, not silver-plated metal.
Important: Zamak cutlery must not be confused with silver-plated cutlery, as it contains no silver and its core is entirely made of zinc.
